Consistency Required
|
*1. This field must be consistent with the values of AT2, AA8a, and AA8b. If the value is inconsistent with these fields, then the record will be rejected. Consistency requirements for REC_TYPE are as follows: *a. If AT2 = 2, then REC_TYPE must = X. *b. If AT2 = space or 1, then the first byte of REC_TYPE must be consistent with the primary reason for assessment (AA8a) and the second byte must be consistent with the Medicare/state reason for assessment (AA8b) according to the following requirements: *(1) If AA8a = 01 and AA8b = space, then REC_TYPE must = A. *(2) If AA8a = 01 and AA8b = 1,5,7 or 8, then REC_TYPE must = AM. *(3) If AA8a = 01 and AA8b = 6, then REC_TYPE must = AO. *(4) If AA8a = 02,03 or 04 and AA8b = space, then REC_TYPE must = Y. *(5) If AA8a = 02,03 or 04 and AA8b = 1,2,3,4,5,7 or 8, then REC_TYPE must = YM. *(6) If AA8a = 02,03 or 04 and AA8b = 6, then REC_TYPE must = YO. *(7) If AA8a = 05 or 10 and AA8b = space, then REC_TYPE must = Q. *(8) If AA8a = 05 or 10 and AA8b = 1,2,3,4,5,7 or 8, then REC_TYPE must = QM. *(9) If AA8a = 05 or 10 and AA8b = 6, then REC_TYPE must = QO. *(10) If AA8a = 00 and AA8b = space, then REC_TYPE must = O. *(11) If AA8a = 00 and AA8b = 1,2,3,4,5,7 or 8, then REC_TYPE must = OM. *(12) If AA8a = 00 and AA8b = 6, then REC_TYPE must = OO. *(13) If AA8a = 06,07 or 08, then REC_TYPE must be D. *(14) If AA8a = 09, then REC_TYPE must be R.
*2. Note that several combinations of AA8a and AA8b are invalid and are not associated with a REC_TYPE value. Invalid combinations are: ((AA8a = 01) and (AA8b = 2 thru 4)) or ((AA8a = 06 thru 09) and (AA8b = 1 thru 8)).
3. This field indicates the pattern of fields that are active, inactive, and optional in the MDS data record. Definitions for REC_TYPE are given schematically in Table 2 of SPDOC110.PDF. Description of each REC_TYPE is as follows: X = Request to inactivate existing record A (Admission) = Admission assessment record with no supplemental Medicare/State reason for assessment. AM (Admission/Medicare) = Admission assessment record also used as a Medicare PPS required assessment. AO (Admission/Other State) = Admission assessment record also used as an Other/State required assessment. Y (Comprehensive with RAPS) = Comprehensive/RAPs assessment record with no supplemental Medicare/State reason for assessment. YM (Comprehensive/RAPs/Medicare) = Comprehensive/RAPs assessment record also used as a Medicare PPS required assessment. YO (Comprehensive/RAPs/Other State) = Comprehensive/RAPs assessment record also used as an Other/State required assessment. Q (Quarterly) = Quarterly assessment record with no supplemental Medicare/State reason for assessment. QM (Quarterly/Medicare) = Quarterly assessment record also used as a Medicare PPS required assessment. QO (Quarterly/Other State) = Quarterly assessment record also used as an Other/State required assessment. O (Other) = Other record with no supplemental Medicare/State reason for assessment. OM (Other/Medicare) = Other assessment record also used as a Medicare PPS required assessment. OO (Other/Other State) = Other assessment record also used as an Other/State required assessment. D (Discharge) = Discharge tracking record. R (Reentry) = Reentry tracking record.
4. NOTE: Detailed specifications for "Other" records (REC_TYPE O and OO) are not present in this document. If these types of records are required by a State, then the State must provide the appropriate detailed specifications.
